Description

The ‘Black-Swan’ Plate, painted by the Hyphen Painter after a print originating with the depiction of a Black Swan by the ‘Port Jackson Painter’, 1788-92;    
subsequently published in Harrison's 'The Naturalist's Pocket Magazine' 1798, with the unique white blaze to the shoulder which indicates this was the source of the image used by the 'Hyphen Painter' at the Davenport works in the early 19th century.
