RURAL & REMOTE
HENRY STENTIFORD & JADE HARLAND

Reflections of the Artist in Residency program at the Glenside Rural & Remote Inpatient Unit. Engagement with mental health facilities consumers, staff and environment of the Glenside campus, and ongoing collaboration with the University of South Australia’s Mental Health Research team has informed this exhibition. Bringing together academics, health care workers, artists and everyone in between to seek a better understanding of the process of recovery and the contribution of art.

HENRY STENTIFORD is a unique Adelaide artist who portrays his vision of humanity with great skill and technique. At first glance his characters seem comic book like but on closer inspection hold darker connotations.

JADE HARLAND is also an Adelaide based visual artist who is predominately a figurative painter producing works in photo realist style. She’s also keen to explore other artistic areas including photography, sculpture and installation. Through this multi layered process she’s able to question the direction of painting and explore alternative modes of presentation.

The South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival is a state-wide festival of Visual Art. The SALA Festival was established in 1998 to promote and celebrate the many talented visual artists in South Australia.
