We are pleased to present Photography, a list of over 60 recently acquired historical photographs. Although mainly comprising 19th century Australian photographs, the list also includes early photographs from the United States (Civil War era), the United Kingdom, and New Zealand, as well as an early album relating to a Belgian missionary in China.
Among the highlights are a number of important early photographs of Indigenous Australians, including one of R.A. Cunningham’s second touring group of Queensland Aborigines taken in New York in 1894.
