In Oriente factum – Made in China

We are pleased to present a special collection of 33 books and manuscripts produced in China between 1700 and 1940, with a number of rare and important works on Sino-European relations, Chinese language, religion and society, and travel accounts. Highlights include a manuscript copy made by Castorano of his own unpublished Chinese grammar (1736); Abel-Rémusat’s manuscript copy of his own unpublished Chinese-Latin dictionary (1810); Meadows’ Translations from the Manchu (1849); Bishop Smith’s The Jews at K’ae-Fung-Foo (1851); and a number of scarce nineteenth century Hong Kong, Shanghai, Canton and Macau imprints.
