Description
A very desirable ivory ground carpet from the eastern province of the Khorassan. A veritable garden of paradise of trees, exotic animals and birds dominates both field and border design.
Such exotic species, which appeared also in the carpets of neighbouring Kirman province, were most probably drawn from botanical or zoological books of the time. The bluish red insect dye cochineal was used extensively in these carpets.
