Description

A predominantly Kurdish township in western Persia, Bidjar has had a long association with rug making. Even though many large carpets were made here and in the surrounding villages, cartoons were not used and the designs were either woven from memory or using a system of ‘samplers’ or ‘wagireh’ – small rugs displaying a range of patterns.
Bidjar carpets are of typically robust construction where the foundation warps and wefts are densely packed to give the carpets a ‘stiff’ handle.
This is a beautiful, traditional old carpet of squarish proportions displaying the so-called herati field and border pattern in good early colour.
Size: 380 x 336 cm

Price: $14,300.00
