The lid with central oculus reveals a pagoda like upright surrounded by 5 un-screwable pierced thread dispensers. Attributable to The Holtzapffel family - adynasty of ivory turners working in Covent Garden from 1794 until the early 20thcentury. They specialised in highly technical fine turning. This piece ranks amongst the finest and most complicated produced.
London Circa 1830.
