677 A Dutch octagonal wine table in pine, with moulded edge and painted with a still life of parrots eating fruit and feeding their young under a red tasselled drape, upon a birdcage swivel tripod base which is painted and grained to simulate rosewood.
Painted furniture was produced in rural areas in many countries, but this example inspired by Dutch pictures, displays a higher degree of artistry than was usual.
Note the wood graining to the underside of top.
Mid 18th century.
