Description

Here we have an exquisite winged lion figure (Pixiu) in transparent yellow glass dating to the Han Dynasty of Ancient China 206BC to 220AD.

The petite figure intact with mineral encrustration from burial to the surface of the glass in places.

There is a strength and ferocity of the beast appearing very catlike with strong legs, neck and wings extending along the body from the top of the front legs. The glass appears almost a honey amber in color and is transparent.

It measures 2 5/8" long by 1 5/16" wide by 1 1/2" tall approximately (66mm x 33mm by 38mm)
