A wonderful painted portrait of William Cavendish, 3rd Earl of Devonshire.This painting comes unsigned by the Artist, but is of wonderful quality and age. Patina and type of work suggests it was painted c.1830. The heavily embellished and carved gilt frame is an artwork in itself! The rich patina on the frame and the style of carving leads it to be of 18th century origin (earlier than the painting itself).
