This superb late 19th century specimen vase is a true collector’s item. Incredibly hand painted and enameled by Master enameller Camille Faure, this vase features a romantic scene of a lady and a gent in an outdoor setting. The enameling is first class with delicate patterns to the neck and base. It is further embellished with engraved silver collars. The piece comes signed by the Artist. Camille Fauré (1874–1956) was a French enameller and entrepreneur whose name became synonymous with the revival and modernisation of Limoges enamel in the early 20th century. Born in Périgueux and later based in Limoges, Fauré established his own enamel workshop around 1920, initially working with the enameller Alexandre Marty before developing a larger atelier employing highly skilled craftsmen. His work is particularly celebrated for its richly coloured, highly textured enamels applied to copper, combining Art Nouveau floral motifs with the bold geometric forms of Art Deco. Fauré’s innovative use of thick, sculptural layers of enamel created exceptional depth and luminosity, and his work achieved international recognition, particularly following the 1925 Paris Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs, which helped establish him as one of the leading figures in French Art Deco enameling.
