Large Derby basin of elegant oval form, well painted with flower groups including a large bunch to the base & either side, the rim with single flower head specimens, attributed to William Billingsley.

Red Crown & Baton mark, c.1790

The hand at work is distinctively that of William Billingsley. The flowers compare very well to sketches by Billingsley in the Royal Crown Derby archives, as illustrated in the 1987 catalogue of the C&A exhibition 'Painters and the Derby China Works' - see p.53
