A circa 1000 BC Western Zhou Dynasty Ancient Chinese archaic jade tiger pendant. The unaltered jade is very translucent and is a pale celadon green. Consistent with burial over the millennia there is naturally occurring alteration which is visible to the jade. These features are not induced with chemicals but rather only consistent with a genuine ancient Chinese artifact. Gemological testing including density (specific gravity) confirms nephrite jade. This exceptionally rare tiger measures approximately 3 7/8" wide by 2 1/8" tall and measures 1/8" thick on average (99.0mm x 54.0mm x 3.5mm) weighing approximately 37.8 grams. There is single sided hole drilling to allow for suspension of this amulet. This ancient jade carving is in good condition with no repairs and can certainly be worn as well as displayed if so desired.
