A large natural unheated oval cut Burmese ruby and sparkly diamond engagement or dress ring circa 1950.

This one of a kind ring is set with a superb big earth mined natural no heat Burmese ruby. This beautiful stone has had no heat treatment and no enhancement of any kind. It is just as mother nature made it.

Surround this pretty ruby is a halo of marquise cut and round brilliant cut earth mined diamonds. The diamonds have been individually hand set being SI in clarity and H in color. The total diamond weight is 1.02 carats.

The setting is made from 18K yellow gold.

It is a size 9 1/2 US and can be resized within a large range.

In total it weighs approximately 5.9 grams.

The ruby and diamond set cluster measures approximately 9/16" long by 5/8" wide and rises 1/4" high off the finger (15mm x 16mm x 7mm).

This beautiful estate ruby ring is in good condition and is ready to gift or to wear.

It shall be sent in a presentation box for safe keeping.

An appraisal shall accompany this ring

Unfortunately, in the last two decades many rubies seen in modern jewelry and rubies set as replacements in vintage and antique jewelry have had the color induced by high temperature heating in chemicals such as beryllium. This is called diffusion treatment and includes surface diffusion, bulk diffusion, lattice diffusion and deep diffusion. There are also sapphires treated heavily with beryllium treatment to imitate rubies. In recent years rubies have been clarity enhanced by filling any fissures or cracks with molten lead glass, sometimes the glass is colored as well, with time the filler falls out or goes cloudy ruining the stone. Polymer resins can be used in a similar way. Oftentimes this clarity enhancement may appear on certificates as the note(s) “residues” or “minor residues” or perhaps “foreign substance”. Colored coatings can be applied to the back of a ruby. These treatments are unacceptable and such treated stones are of very low value. We do not sell rubies with these treatments.

The photos form part of the description. Like all colored stones there is a color variation that occurs in different lighting conditions both inside but also outside, even the time of day can make the color of a stone appear a little different. We do our best to show colors as we see them. Color perception is highly individual and some people can perceive more colors than others, also colors can appear somewhat different on different screens and devices due to variations in screen hardware and device display settings.
